Nexo


Artists working in intaglio, relief, lithography and letterpress techniques participated at the Druckwerk Printmaking Studio in central Basel, Switzerland, from August 1 to August 12, 2018, concluding with an exhibition at the Kaskadenkondensator Basel Gallery. Nexo was the theme, chosen collaboratively and interpreted individually by participants during their time in the workshop. 

The participating artists were Javier Abad Alonso, Alison Judd, Barbara Katz (Sound Installation), Tami Komai, Michelle Murillo, Kukka Pitkänen, Carrie Ann Plank, Katharina Rüegg, Hassiko Sngryan, Jonas Studer, Beth Davila Waldman, James Williams and Megan Adie.

Sound installation, Barbara Katz, Untitled / 9'28“ EDITION/BASEL 2018 Original sound recordings of printing presses and tools at druckwerk Basel are the basis of this installation. The piece creates a connection between the printmaking workshop in which the artworks on display were created, and the Kaskadenkondensator gallery, in which they were displayed. _ Als Ursprungsmaterial dienten Geräuschaufnahmen von diversen Druckmaschinen und Werkzeugen aus dem Druckwerk Basel. Die Klangebene stellt so die Verbindung her zwischen dem Druckwerk, wo die Werke der internationalen Künstlergruppe entstanden sind und dem Ausstellungsraum Kaskadenkondensator.
