Edition/Basel 2018 Session 1

Hush / Silence After Noise


Artists working in intaglio, relief, lithography and letterpress techniques participated at the Druckwerk Printmaking Studio in central Basel, Switzerland, from July 18 to July 29, 2018, concluding with an exhibition at the Basel Papiermühle Museum. Hush / Silence After Noise was the theme, chosen collaboratively and interpreted individually by participants during their time in the workshop. 

The participating artists were Marcela Avila, Alejandra Fuentes, Helga Halbritter, Mark Johnsen, Lian Ng, Asli Saglam, Senso Stampa, Sabina Stucky, Arman Vahanyan, Sibylle Winkelmann and Megan Adie (HUSH for Chamber Ensemble).

HUSH for chamber ensemble is a new piece written for an ensemble of paper. Project produced for Edition/Basel 2018. Performed by Ensemble Papier. Each sheet is letterpress printed with a text detailing how to play the instrument, and a few words describing how it might sound. Created, printed, and conducted by Megan Adie. Videography by Margarit Lehmann. Recorded at the Kaskadenkondensator Gallery in Basel, Switzerland, and debuted at the Papiermühle Museum on July 27, 2018.
